Losha Nazarov I enjoy finding smart ways to earn more rewards from money I'm already spending.

If you own an HVAC business, you've probably searched for the best business credit card at some point.
The problem is that most articles give the same generic list of cards without ever talking about how an HVAC company actually operates.
An HVAC contractor doesn't spend money the same way a restaurant owner or a real estate agent does.
That's why I don't believe there's one "best" business credit card for everyone.
I think the best card depends on where your business spends the most money.
For many HVAC companies, the largest expense isn't gas or office supplies. It's equipment and inventory. If most of your spending goes toward HVAC systems, condensers, air handlers, refrigerant, and supplier purchases, choosing a card that rewards large everyday purchases can put thousands of dollars back into your business every year.
Before recommending a credit card, let's look at where most HVAC companies spend money.
Large equipment purchases
Air handlers
Condensers
Package units
Heat pumps
Mini split systems
Refrigerant
Copper
Installation materials
Supplier purchases
Service vehicle fuel
Advertising
Software
Insurance
Payroll
Not every HVAC company spends the same amount in each category, but one thing is usually true.
Equipment is expensive.
One system can easily cost several thousand dollars before it's ever installed.
That's where I think most business owners should focus first.
When people ask me which credit card they should use, they're often thinking about fuel rewards.
Fuel matters.
Advertising matters too.
But if your company spends hundreds of thousands of dollars every year buying equipment from HVAC suppliers, that's where I'd start looking first.
If your biggest expense earns almost nothing in rewards, you're missing the largest opportunity.
Instead of asking,
"Which card gives me the best gas rewards?"
I'd first ask,
"Where does most of my money actually go?"
If supplier purchases are one of the biggest expenses in your business, one card I think deserves serious consideration is the Chase Ink Business Premier.
Here's why.
The card earns unlimited cashback on purchases, and qualifying purchases of $5,000 or more earn an even higher cashback rate under the current program terms.
Think about how that adds up.
A $10,000 equipment order could return $250 in cashback.
A $20,000 order could return $500.
Now imagine making purchases like that throughout the year.
That's money your business was already going to spend.
The only difference is using a card that rewards those purchases better.
This is where I think many articles get it wrong.
I wouldn't use the same credit card for every business expense.
For example, your supplier purchases might go on one card.
Your fuel could go on another.
Your advertising budget might earn much better rewards with a completely different card.
Every expense has a job.
Every card should have a job too.
That's how I build what I call a Reward Stack.
Instead of asking one credit card to do everything, I assign each card a purpose based on the way the business spends money.
Fuel is still a major expense for most HVAC companies.
So is advertising if you're trying to grow your business.
Those categories deserve their own strategy because there are cards that can earn significantly more than a flat cashback card.
I'll cover those separately because choosing the right card for fuel is a different conversation than choosing the right card for supplier purchases.
One of the biggest mistakes I see business owners make is trying to find one perfect credit card.
I don't think one card is the answer.
I think the right strategy is.
If you're spending thousands of dollars every month on HVAC equipment, that's where I'd focus first.
Get the biggest expense right before worrying about the smaller ones.
Once you understand where your business actually spends money, choosing the right credit cards becomes much easier.
The goal isn't to own more credit cards.
The goal is to get more value from the money your business is already spending.
